AUTOTYPE FOOTPRINT FLOOR GRAPHICS SYSTEM IS LEADING THE WAY FOR OXFORD EYE HOSPITAL
30 October 2000 - Autotype International
| Oxford Eye Hospital is using the latest Autotype floor graphics system, FootPrint, to guide patients and visitors to the correct department, overcoming previous signposting difficulties common in large hospitals.

Outpatients Sister Julie Jackson explains, “There are five departments and one very large waiting room in the hospital and we were finding that some patients were sitting in the wrong waiting area. Unfortunately delays are inevitable in the hospital environment but for some patients that time was increased unnecessarily by being in the wrong location.” When the hospital heard about the Autotype FootPrint floor graphics system it seemed a logical solution to the problem of wandering patients. The first set of FootPrint images to be installed - a series of rabbit paws - leads to the children’s play area. Printed and installed by Bedford based Creative Image Services, a leading floor graphics specialist, the FootPrint system is already helping to minimise confusion and stress for both patients and staff alike. Autotype’s FootPrint is a highly scratch and slip resistant material, developed specifically for applying high quality graphics directly to floor areas. FootPrint has excellent clarity and image resolution combined with a high degree of transparency. The slip resistance meets the safety criteria of the hospital and despite being cleaned daily, the FootPrint floor graphics continue to maintain both colour and clarity. Julie Jackson is delighted with the new scheme, “The FootPrint rabbit paws are extremely bright and colourful graphics; children and adults alike love them, plus they are practical, safe and good fun. Due to the success of the rabbit paw floor graphics, we hope to be expanding the FootPrint system throughout the Hospital, with bright arrows pointing the way to the various departments, which will ultimately make a visit to the Oxford Eye Hospital as relaxed as possible.”
