RACE AHEAD WITH CAPILLEX FROM AUTOTYPE
26 April 2000 - Autotype International

Capillex films won’t make you win a race, but thanks to their outstanding benefits, they are ideal for complex imaging such as graphic decals for racing bike frames.

At Screendrukkerij Posterama B.V. they specialise in printing images on the high-performance bikes. Posterama is located in the Netherlands and they have been using Autotype screen products since their foundation in 1956.

The Posterama production team consists of 15 experienced craftsmen. The machinery includes three cylinder presses, combined with specially designed dryers, as well as two semi-automatic flatbed machines. Due to the diversity of orders, production has been laid out for smaller print sizes of variable run lengths. While pilot runs of 5 to 10 pieces are common, main run lengths may range from 1,000 to 3,000 pieces in five to six colours plus varnish and adhesive.

In addition to polyester, Posterama also uses stainless steel mesh. This requires a perfect stencil system and Director, Jan Soeten, states - “The main aspect to us is a consistent high quality. We have to count on that under all conditions. And through the years, we could always rely on Autotype for quality and consistency. Initially, we only used Five Star film and this made a dependable production of low profile and high definition stencils possible.” Why the change to Capillex? Jan Soeten explains again - “At present, the quality level of low profile capillary films such as the Capillex 18 and the Capillex 20 is superb. These films are also very easy to use, even by less experienced workers. This makes our production extra sure.” While Capillex 18 is applied to fine polyester mesh such as 140.34, Capillex 20 is used mainly on stainless steel mesh.

At Posterama they continuously evaluate new technical developments and Jan Soeten is naturally excited by the possibilities which are now open to his company, thanks to the ultra high resolution and controlled ink deposit offered by the new Capillex CD – “Capillex CD (critical deposit) is the perfect answer to the shorter set up times and higher number of colours demanded by the latest equipment. Its properties are extremely appealing, as they allow us to output at greater speed, while retaining the highest possible quality.”
