AUTOTYPE CAPILLEX 18 GOES ON SHOW
19 April 2000 - Autotype International
| “Teaching the world to sing” and “it’s the real thing” are world-renowned slogans due to expert marketing campaigns which required every detail to be absolutely right. An example of this philosophy carries on today in the soft drinks vending machines that are seen in most public places, none less so than one of the most famous new tourist attractions – the Millennium Dome.

Visitors to the Dome seeking to refresh themselves from the numerous soft drinks vending machines scattered around the place may be forgiven for not knowing that the very high quality of the backlit panels has been possible thanks to the advanced features of Autotype Capillex 18. When Boyall Graphics of Northampton were asked to produce these panels, the commission involved printing a design which incorporated two of the most demanding brand colours around – accuracy of reproduction was paramount and nothing short of the best graphic output was good enough. Boyall Graphics have long experience of supplying blue chip accounts with the exacting standards required even in the most demanding applications. They also pride themselves in providing their clients with a total support package. For this special Millennium Dome application, Boyall Graphics utilise polycarbonate sheets printed using UV inks. For the stencil system they use the world famous Autotype Capillex 18, which they source from Sericol. Capillex 18 is an easy to use film designed particularly for printing very fine half-tone with outstanding resolution and edge definition. This is essential for applications in four-colour process work. Before mounting the films, the screens are degreased with Autotype Universal Mesh Prep. This produces an even film of water on the mesh. Capillex 18 is then unrolled down the wet mesh. After removing the excess water, the stencil is thoroughly dried and then exposed. After exposure and a simple washout with cold water, the stencil is dried and blocked out with Autotype Regular Filler. This simple process gives Boyall Graphics a consistent stencil and a smooth, even and controlled ink deposit which ensures perfect prints every time. Boyall Graphics are always on the look out for top quality products as one of the partners, Brandon Boyall, states: “As a rule we constantly assess a great variety of products, but Capillex 18 has given us consistently high quality even in the most difficult tasks. Besides, the second to none service which Sericol and Autotype provide is in keeping with our company’s approach - a total support package which our customers simply expect from us.” Autotype Capillex 18 has now even made it to the Dome.
