Autotype has developed a revolutionary formable hardcoated film technology for IMD. The process simplifies the manufacture of complex molded items by decorating specially manufactured films prior to their molding. The special formable hardcoated films provide design versatility including backlighting, a selective texture of the outer surface and excellent resistance to abrasion and chemicals. Graphics are fully protected as they are printed on the inner surface of the films. This technology provides major manufacturing savings in cost, waste and process time. The IMD Training and Resource Center consists of a fully equipped conference area electronically linked to the training labs. The lab has screen printing, cutting, trimming and injection molding facilities. The training area has been equipped with a Demag Ergotech 80-400 PRO, a machine widely used for the molding of components for the automotive and telecom industries. The Ergotech 80-400 PRO will play a pivotal role in the training of delegates for this new process. The Training and Resource Center offers a fully integrated environment in which partners can experiment with process issues related to IMD. From its formation in 1868, Autotype remains dedicated to innovation founded on research and major development activity. The opening of the IMD Training and Resources Center is a further evidence of Autotype’s determination in this area.
