DONATA PARUCCINI PRESENTS 'BOLLE' IN AN INTERNATIONAL EXHIBIT DEDICATED TO FEMALE DESIGNERS
30 September 2003 - DSM Somos

In occasion of the exhibition “D&D: Donne & Design” organised by Ileana Gobbo and dedicated to female designers, Italian designer Donata Paruccini will present her own glimpse of the future.

Paruccini's design for the dish “Bolle” was created for the 'Made in China' collection of 'The Future of Manufacturing' (presented at the 2003 Milan Furniture Show); its shape encompasses the future trends of design, influenced by cultural fusions and by high-tech production methods.

“Made in Italy” design and innovative manufacturing are mirrored in the cultural and technological mix of the 'Made in China' collection, offering new and unexpected sensations.

“Bolle”, invoking the sensation of soap bubbles, was made using the stereolithography material Somos® WaterShed™, one of the latest innovations developed for existing Solid Imaging technologies. With its appearance of frosted glass, 'Bolle' transports into the present a future world, in which project personalisation is a reality, and mass production techniques no longer represent a prerogative to design.

Manipulation of the computer CAD information and the following production of 'bolle' were entrusted to ISRIM (Superior Institute of Research and Training on Advanced Materials and Technologies, www.isrim.it of Terni, Italy). ISRIM, leaders in the field of applied research, understood how to demonstrate the added value of WaterShed™, and to lead the project from the conceptual phase, to production and to the artisan finishing of 'bolle'.
