ON EXHIBIT BY DSM SOMOS BATHSHEBA: “THE FINE ART OF PROTOTYPING”
30 September 2002 - DSM Somos
| DSM Somos® announces its support of the arts with a display of Bathsheba sculpture to be exhibited at the 2002 TCT Exhibition and Conference and the 2002 Euromold fair. |
Artwork by Bathsheba Grossman (Santa Cruz, California, USA) showcases the natural beauty hidden within symmetries that are traditionally far-removed from sculpture owing to their complex nature. Through the use of layer additive technologies, Bathsheba sculptures have mesmerized the art and design world, creating an interest that defies the barriers of the traditional prototype. Visitors of the exhibit at TCT will have a chance to win a Bathsheba signed original, “The Noom”, by participating in a contest drawing oriented at raising the perception of layer additive RP capabilities. Bathsheba describes her work as 3D meditations which highlight elegance and simplicity. The award sculpture for the Time Compression Technologies show is created out of the recently launched DSM Somos® WaterShed™ material, and then electroplated with copper and nickel metals by Repliform Inc. (USA), one of the featured speakers of the TCT Conference. The TCT event is recognized as the largest Rapid Product Development conference in Europe, and is the global benchmark as a meeting-place for product engineers, industrial designers and R&D professionals. Euromold is worldwide the leading trade fair for mold making and tooling, design and application development, and has a predicted 55,000 visitors and approximately 1,600 exhibitors from 45 countries forecast for Euromold 2002.
