TOYOTA PRIUS CLEANS UP WITH ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD
26 October 2000 - Corus Automotive
| The Toyota Prius was awarded the Corus IVehE Motor Show Environmental Award at a gala dinner attended by 500 leading personalities from the world’s motor industry held on the eve of the British International Motor Show.

At the previous award ceremony in 1998 the judges had no difficulty in choosing the Prius for its advanced powertrain design. For the 2000 awards, the judging panel again acknowledged the Prius as the only full size family vehicle, now on sale in the UK, to offer the environmental benefits of a petrol/battery hybrid. 'Toyota continues its leadership in making leading-edge technology available to all motorists,' said design engineer John Rook, chairman of the environmental judging panel. 'The Prius offers environmental solutions that recognise the needs of the real world. It is an excellent example of how automotive engineers can meet the global environmental challenge.' The clincher for the judges was Toyota’s five-year warranty and ownership package. This gives peace of mind to motorists who wish to be among the first to make their commitment to a sustainable future.
