DISTRUPOL USES ULTRALITE TO ESTABLISH ON-LINE PROCUREMENT WITH DUPONT ENGINEERING POLYMERS
11 March 2003 - Distrupol

An on-Line ordering system provides customers with a faster and more accurate sales service for full range of engineering plastics from Dupont

Distrupol is now using a proven, on-line, procurement technology to process customers’ orders for engineering plastics from DuPont that ensures materials are dispatched accurately and in the shortest possible time.

The UltraLite ordering system has been fully operational since late December. Orders placed by UK customers now go straight from the Distrupol head office in Chertsey, Surrey into DuPont’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software, which provides an immediate acknowledgement that confirms the materials required have been allocated to specific orders.

Previously orders faxed to DuPont by Distrupol had been entered into the system manually. The UltraLite link enables this process to be fully automated – and provides Distrupol with the opportunity to track orders on-line in real time.

“Using UltraLite means that the process from order to acceptance and acknowledgement is managed seamlessly,” explains Distrupol Europe’s chief executive officer, David Jukes. “In addition to instant order acknowledgement, we have the added advantage of better visibility to manage our stocks and ensure world class service to our customers.”

UltraLite is a proven on-line integration tool enabling automated order processing and reporting. Developed by Omnexus, the global plastics e-MarketPlace, UltraLite has been operating most effectively since its introduction by Distrupol. It is expected to handle more than 7,000 transactions, for up to 500 different products, this year following DuPont’s decision - in October 2002 – to appoint Distrupol as its sole distributor in the UK for its full engineering plastics portfolio.

“This is another great example of the Distrupol - DuPont partnership in action,” says David Jukes. “It reinforces our commitment to the engineering plastics business of DuPont in the UK and complements the level of technical service support and application development that we are already providing to our customers.”

Distrupol’s customers in the Nordic region will soon also be benefiting from the UltraLite ordering as the system will shortly be extended to incorporate their orders using the same server and connection as Distrupol in the UK.

The DuPont Engineering Polymers business manufactures and sells Crastin PBT and Rynite PET thermoplastic polyester resins, Delrin acetal resins, Hytrel thermoplastic polyester elastomers, Minlon mineral reinforced nylon resins, Tynex filaments, Vespel parts and shapes, Zenite LCP liquid crystal polymers and Zytel nylon resins.

UltraLite is a patent-pending technology developed by Omnexus the global, neutral eMarketplace focused on delivering e-commerce technology and related services to the plastics industry.
