DISTRUPOL APPOINTED EXCLUSIVE UK DISTRIBUTOR OF DUPONT’S ENGINEERING PLASTICS
Distrupol has been distributing DuPont’s engineering plastics in the UK since 1993 when DuPont acquired the ICI engineering materials business. The appointment of Distrupol as sole distributor is effective immediately and follows the 4 October 2002 announcement of the termination of the distribution agreement with Resin Express. Commenting on the new agreement, Craig Oliver, Northern European marketing manager for DuPont, said: “In choosing Distrupol as our sole distributor in the UK we took into account the excellent support and customer service the company is providing to their existing customers and their commitment to excellence in technical support and application development, which are essential to the development of our business. As we move forward together, we will be backing Distrupol with the full weight of our technical support. DuPont and Distrupol are committed to providing continuity of supply to all users of DuPont resins across the whole UK market.” David Jukes, Distrupol Europe’s chief executive officer, says he is delighted with the confidence shown by DuPont in awarding its exclusive distributorship for engineering resins in the UK to Distrupol. Distrupol is already sole distributor in Ireland and the Nordic countries (Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland) for the full range of DuPont’s engineering plastics. “We already have many satisfied customers processing DuPont resins and are fully committed to ensuring that our new customers receive outstanding service from our experienced team here in the UK,” said Jukes. “We plan to place considerable resources behind the confidence shown by DuPont to ensure that the transition of all on-going business and development programmes runs extremely smoothly.” “We have an outstanding team of people here at Distrupol and it will be our first objective to maintain confidence, security and consistency of service and supply.” The exclusive agreement between Distrupol and DuPont for engineering plastics complements the recent appointment of Chertsey based Distrupol as distributor throughout the UK and Ireland for DuPont’s packaging and industrial polymers: Elvax ethylene vinyl acetate resins, Surlyn ionomers, Fusabond polymer modifiers and Elvaloy AC acrylate copolymer resins.The materials are used in a broad cross-section of industries, from automotive and transportation to food and medical. The DuPont Engineering Polymers business manufactures and sells Crastin PBT and Rynite PET thermoplastic polyester resins, Delrin acetal resins, Hytrel thermoplastic polyester elastomers, Minlon mineral reinforced nylon resins, Tynex filaments, Vespel parts and shapes, Zenite LCP liquid crystal polymers and Zytel nylon resins.These products serve global markets in the aerospace, appliance, automotive, consumer, electrical, electronic, industrial, sporting goods and many other diversified industries.
