DISTRUPOL WINS DISTRIBUTORSHIP FOR DUPONT PACKAGING AND INDUSTRIAL POLYMERS

Distrupol, a member company of Univar and the leading UK polymer distributor, technical service and solutions provider, has been appointed distributor for DuPont packaging and industrial polymers. The agreement covers distribution throughout the UK and Ireland for Elvax Ethylene Vinyl acetate resins, Surlyn ionomer resins, Fusabond polymer modifiers and Elvaloy AC acrylate copolymer resins.

According to Kerrin Smith, DuPont P&IP European Distributor Manager: “Distrupol’s selection was based on the success it has already achieved with our engineering polymers. The company has a sound knowledge-base in respect of the materials and, of equal importance, a solid presence in both the UK and Irish markets. They are geographically close to customers and well-placed to fully understand their needs. In addition Distrupol supports customers beyond product delivery with a full range of technical and application development services and this is an important added value.”

The DuPont materials being handled by Distrupol find applications in a broad cross-section of industries including automotive, transportation, medical, food, protective and safety equipment, and toys manufacturing. Materials from the range meet the needs of adhesives, master batches for additive and colour concentrates, as well as profile extrusion and specialty coatings.

Some injection products can also be combined with other polymers in two-shot processes to provide components with a ‘soft feel’ finish. Moreover, in compounding they can alloy with other polymers to improve mechanical properties or processing performance and in certain cases they can even provide a replacement for plasticisers in PVC, giving the benefit of a non-migratory product.
