VANTICO HIGH-TEMPERATURE SL MATERIAL NOW AVAILABLE AT THE TECHNOLOGY HOUSE
28 February 2003 - Huntsman Advanced Materials
| Vantico’s high-performance, 200°C RenShapeTM SL 5530 stereolithography (SL) material is now available at The Technology House (TTH), Solon, Ohio, for the production of functional automotive, aerospace and tooling models and prototypes. |
Long favored by OEMs for use on demanding projects, the SL 5530 photopolymer is ideal for projects such as under-the-hood components that can be put into validation testing immediately after they’ve been cured. “Recently, we’ve seen a growing demand for high-performance SL products. With the installation of a new vat dedicated to the SL 5530 material, we have significantly expanded our ability to support customer needs,” according to Mark Horner, vice president of business development at TTH. RenShape SL 5530 was introduced to the market by Vantico nearly five years ago. Since that time, it has been used for generating prototype models and tooling by a broad range of aerospace and automotive OEMs. The patented product combines a high heat deflection temperature ranging from 140°C to 200°C, depending on thermal postcuring processes, along with high rigidity and tensile modulus. One of the leading product development, engineering and rapid prototyping service bureaus in the U.S., TTH was founded in 1996. Today, the company is able to provide customers with a broad range of services needed to bring a new product to market in record time. As part of this capability, TTH utilizes Pro/Engineer and Solid Works CAD systems backed by two solid state SLA500 and one SLA5000 machines that run four different SL resins. TTH also has automated meter/mix dispensing units for prototype and low-volume production of polyurethane parts and is equipped to handle part finishing and painting in-house. For prototype metal castings, TTH has the facilities to cast from one to several hundred aluminum, zinc, brass, bronze, ductile and gray iron parts. Most recently, in Fall 2002, the service bureau opened a new state-of-theart reaction injection molding (RIM) operation and added full CNC-machining capabilities. During first quarter 2003, TTH will start running the first RSP tooling equipment in the world for the fast production of quality tooling used for plastic injection molding, die casting, stamping and forging dies.
