ADHESIVE GAINS GERMANISCHER LLOYD AND DET NORSKE VERITAS APPROVALS
31 January 2003 - Huntsman Araldite

Araldite 2015 has been awarded the internationally recognised Germanischer Lloyd and Det Norske Veritas Type Approvals for the construction of commercial and military marine craft and aluminium fast ferries.

Specifically, the Type Approvals certify the use of Araldite 2015 for the bonding of
aluminium (5000 series) in the construction of marine craft. The Germanischer Lloyd Approval also specifies FRP bonding as well as aluminium.

With the award of these Approvals, Araldite 2015 can be used for the appropriate
bonding applications on any boat, ship or ferry without having to apply for individual approvals. This makes Araldite 2015 a simple, easy and effective bonding option for boat builders around the world.

With an impressive track record in marine applications, including the bonding of
Polyester-GRP sandwich elements and also metal parts in one of Europe s major
Navy s latest Minesweepers, Araldite 2015 is specially formulated to withstand the
highly demanding marine environment.

It is a two-component, room temperature curing paste adhesive which gives resilient bonding and sealing on metals, composites and plastics. It is thixotropic and resistant to sag at up to 10mm thick.

Araldite 2015 is particularly suitable for SMC and GRP bonding and when formulated for specific applications it forms durable, elastomeric joints that are water tight and weather resistant - so ideal for all types of marine applications.

The Award of the Germanischer Lloyd and Det Norske Veritas Type Approvals is
extremely important for our increasing activity in the global marine market, said Tony Mee, Head of Adhesives Global Marketing, Vantico. It is also recognition from the industry itself of Araldite s ongoing commitment to quality standards, best practice and performance.
