VANTICO SHOWS ITS ADHESIVES, TOOLING AND STRUCTURAL COMPOSITES RANGES AT JEC 2002
28 February 2002 - Huntsman Araldite
| Vantico is a world leader in providing solutions in the field of adhesives, structural
adhesives and - under its new global umbrella brand RenShape® Solutions -
tooling materials. |
Vantico’s well known Araldite® composite bonding range offers high performance products with the latest epoxy, polyurethane and methacrylate adhesive technology. The range includes adhesives with high strength properties for bonding CFRP or GRE and metals as well as resilient and flexible adhesives for bonding thermoplastic composites. From adhesives with long open times for large applications to fast curing adhesives for early removal of fixtures and rapid throughput, the range includes adhesives which are resistant to high temperatures, water and chemicals, are impact resistant and thixotropic for gap filling or vertical applications. It is this versatility that makes adhesives from the Araldite® composite bonding range the preferred choice for structural applications in a wide variety of manufacturing industries from aerospace to land transport and sports and leisure. Key to the range is Epibond® 1590 A/B. Able to reach the performance levels of heat-curing structural film adhesives, this two-component epoxy adhesive does not need frozen storage facilities and an autoclave curing process. Thus Epibond 1590 A/B offers significant potential cost savings. Typical applications would be in aerospace or high peformance racing cars. Tooling RenShape Solutions, the new worldwide name for all tooling and modelling products from Vantico, offers a comprehensive portfolio of synthetic materials designed to help customers increase their pace to production. RenShape Solutions provides a complete range of products to transform concepts into three-dimensional reality. This includes advanced new stereolithography materials for masters, polyurethanes used to simulate thermoplastics in the production of prototypes and production parts, tooling boards and mechanically applied pastes for making models, and specially formulated materials capable of moulding prepregs and infusion systems. Together with high performance products for foundry patterns, core boxes and for general pattern making, the range is all that is required for the tooling workshop. Structural Composites Vantico’s product range for the manufacture of structural composites will be on show. From building blocks to tailor-made formulations, the company’s structural composites range is unique in offering to the composites industry solutions that combine excellent processing ability with superior performance. The comprehensive range of Araldite epoxy resins and Aradur hardeners allows the selection of the optimum formulation for the manufacture of reinforced plastics using technologies such as prepregging, wet-lay-up, filament winding, pultrusion, pressure moulding, resin infusion and resin transfer moulding with all types of fibres. These systems find broad application in the industrial sector including windcraft turbine blades, automotive interior and exterior parts, printing rolls, highperformance offshore pipes, concrete reinforcements as well as in recreational goods such as alpine and cross-country skies, tennis rackets, fishing rods etc. Recently developed high-performance systems for the production of large and/or complicated parts by RTM will also be presented. These formulations have been designed further to shorten production cycles in the windmill blade and automotive manufacturing industries. The Araldite and Aradur product range, such as EES expandable systems, for use in combination with natural fibres for automotive interiors, meets customer requirements for cost, weight and performance. Composite parts made for new cars using Vantico products and various production processes will be displayed at the show. For the aerospace market, Vantico products comprising multifunctional epoxies, Quatrex® and Tactix® specialty epoxy resins, and Matrimid® and Kerimid® polyimide systems are proven across the world for delivering outstanding performance and value to the industry. They feature a combination of mechanical and thermal performance as well as excellent durability to meet the very demanding specifications required in the aerospace industry. Technical representatives will be available on the company’s stand throughout the show to discuss customer’s individual requirements.
