17 June 2004 - Bayer MaterialScience AG

Bayer MaterialScience LLC introduces six new Leda® compounded color effects: Silverado, Black Starlight, Heart's Desire, Fade-to-Black, Titanium, and White Marble.

Each of the following Leda color effects - influenced by market trend information from the design and fashion industries - was developed at Bayer MaterialScience's color lab in Hebron, Ohio:

Silverado, part of the Leda Mina® effects family - a deep metallic silver effect.
Black Starlight, part of the Leda Aster® effects family - glossy black with metal flakes that provides a 3-D effect.

Heart's Desire, part of the Leda Mina effects family - a high-definition, metallic red color. Approved for use in FDA applications.

Fade-to-Black, part of the Leda Mirage® effects family - a metallic effect that color shifts between green and black. Approved for use in FDA applications.

Titanium, part of the Leda Mina effects family - a sharp metallic gray effect. Approved for use in FDA applications.

White Marble, part of the Leda Aster effects family - a clean white and gray marble look. Approved for use in FDA applications.

The six new Leda effects further expand the palette of Bayer MaterialScience's Fantasia™ colors and special effects program. All of the new color effects are designed for use with Bayer MaterialScience's Makrolon® polycarbonate.

'Our research shows that new product designs and fashions will include more unique and complex metallic effects,' said John Skabardonis, Fantasia marketing manager. 'We tailored these latest effects to address and anticipate the design and fashion industry's next color and special effects trends.'
