BAYER PRESENTS TECHNICAL PAPER ON HXNBR AT ACS RUBBER EXPO 03
14 October 2003 - Bayer MaterialScience AG
| Hydrogenated Carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (HXNBR) compounds provide excellent mechanical properties, such as abrasion resistance and hot tear strength, as well as heat, oil and fluid resistance in many demanding applications. |
The recently commercialized Bayer Therban® XT (HXNBR) elastomer can be used on its own or blended with regular HNBR grades allowing greater flexibility in designing the optimal formulation for applications as diverse as oil well specialty (OWS) and printing rolls. This presentation reviews the effect of various ingredients such as polymer, fillers and performance aids on the final compound properties. Special emphasis is on maximizing abrasion wear and hot tear resistance while minimizing compression set. Other HXNBR compound attributes are explored.
