BAYER POLYMERS INTRODUCES THREE NEW GRADES OF MAKROFOL® POLYCARBONATE FILM
22 June 2003 - Bayer MaterialScience AG
| The three new grades combine to offer customers a wider range of design opportunities and improved production results:
|
Makrofol DE7-2 CG (Controlled Gloss) PC film provides a consistent first surface gloss finish from lot to lot. By tightening the gloss requirements, customers can now place parts 'side by side' without noticing any differences. Lot selection and sorting parts are now a thing of the past. Makrofol DE7-2 CG has a velvet first surface and a fine matte second surface. It is available in 0.015' and 0.020' thickness (15 and 20 mil). Makrofol DPF 5037 PC film is a gloss/gloss film with low optical retardation value. While traditional gloss/gloss polycarbonate films exhibit a wide variance of optical retardation within the product, Makrofol DPF 5037 was designed with a lower stress level that provides better registration of graphics after the forming process. The low stress levels also allow for greater design flexibility including larger parts, multiple 'ups' on smaller parts, and greater draw capabilities. The product comes in various masking combinations and is available in 0.020' thickness (20 mil). Makrofol DE VLG 7-1 (Very Low Gloss) PC film has a proprietary velvet first surface and a gloss second surface. The film has one of the lowest first surface gloss levels currently found in the market. More importantly, the film exhibits minimal gloss change during forming and molding processes. Customers no longer have to control gloss level by overprinting the first surface. The film is available in 0.015' thickness (15 mil). 'These three new grades help to augment our ever-expanding line of Makrofol PC films,' said Dr. Shu Liu, team leader - New Product Development for Bayer Polymer's PC Film Business. 'Each film is designed to meet our customers' unique range of gloss requirements, especially when they are forming parts.'
