18 December 2002 - Bayer MaterialScience AG

Bayer Plastics' Film business has introduced three new soft-feel film products: Makrofol® DPF 5017, Makrofol DPF 5038 and Bayfol® DPF 5035.

Both Makrofol DPF 5017 and Makrofol DPF 5038 polycarbonate films have a soft-feel first surface and a micro-matte second surface, which offers enhanced printability and graphic registration. While Makrofol DPF 5017 has a matte first surface, Makrofol DPF 5038 has a velvet first surface. Both films are available at the thickness of 0.010 inch.

Bayfol DPF 5035 is a polycarbonate blend film with a gloss second surface and a soft-feel matte first surface. This new film has high dynamic strength for better switch actuation life, increased dimensional stability, good cold formability and is available at a thickness of 0.008 inch.

'Soft-feel film is a growing trend in the marketplace. We see a wide range of application opportunities for different types of keypads, cell phone housings, automotive interiors, external computer components, dishware, etc.,' said Dr. Shu Liu, Product Development Specialist, Bayer Plastics.
