BAYER PLASTICS INTRODUCES A NEW LINE OF SOFT-TOUCH THERMOPLASTIC POLYURETHANE ELASTOMERS
13 November 2002 - Bayer MaterialScience AG
| Bayer Plastics' new line of soft-touch Desmopan® thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) are available in a shore hardness range of 60A to 80A. |
Each grade - DP-1060A, DP-3370A and DP-3380A - is based on polyester polyurethane chemistry that is designed for overmolding or multi-component molding applications that require a soft and durable grip or a hard/soft material combination. The TPUs, manufactured using a patented process from Bayer, naturally adhere to a variety of substrates such as polycarbonate, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, acrylic, copolyester, nylon compounds and a variety of polymer blends. They also offer excellent resistance to fuels, oils and chemicals. 'This new soft-touch line expands our already broad range of TPUs,' said Gerald DiBattista, market development specialist for Bayer Plastics. 'These grades, like many of our others, are designed to meet our customers' needs for materials that provide various tactile surfaces to products like hand-held tools, electronic devices and housewares.'
