BAYER PLASTICS DOUBLES DURETHAN™ POLYAMIDE COMPOUNDING CAPACITY AT NEWARK, OHIO FACILITY
21 October 2002 - Bayer MaterialScience AG
| Bayer Plastics' recent Durethan™ polyamide compounding capacity expansion at its Newark, Ohio facility is designed to address increased short- and long-term material demands in the automotive and consumer markets. |
The expansion will provide new compounding capabilities, allow for the production of a wider range of polyamide grades, and meet several quality improvement objectives. Specific details of the capacity expansion are not being disclosed. 'The growth of our Durethan polyamide material in plastic/metal hybrid applications, new under-the-hood parts, power tools, and various lawn and garden equipment has made this expansion a necessity,' said James Walton, Business Manager of Bayer Plastics' Durethan group. 'The additional compounding capabilities we've added will strengthen our position as a top-tier nylon supplier in the United States.' Along with its Newark, Ohio, facility, Bayer compounds Durethan polyamide resins at its facilities in Uerdingen, Germany and Filago, Italy. Durethan polyamide resins exhibit high impact strength, thermal stability and dynamic load capacity. They also provide excellent processibility and proven abrasion, wear and chemical resistance.
