SPAS MADE WITH BAYER THERMOPLASTICS PROVIDE PEACE OF MIND
24 July 2002 - Bayer MaterialScience AG

Dimension One's AquaFit 16, AquaFit 19 Dual Temp, and AquaPro 19 Aquatic Fitness Systems feature two Bayer Plastics' engineering thermoplastics - Centrex® 833 ASA/AES (acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylonitrile/acrylonitrile-ethylene-styrene) weatherable polymer over Lustran® 752 ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) resin.

The Centrex and Lustran resins are co-extruded into sheet for Dimension One by both Spartech Plastics and Primex Plastics.

These materials comprise the shell of the aquatic fitness systems, which is the heart-and-soul of the product. 'We believe that our AquaPro 19 is the largest thermoformed part made from this type of material,' said James McClure, chief operating officer of Dimension One Spas.

The fully formed part in the AquaPro 19 is 19 feet long, eight feet wide and five feet deep. The AquaFit 16 measures 16 feet long, eight feet wide and four feet deep. The AquaFit 19 - Dual Temp measures 19 feet long, eight feet wide, four feet deep, and incorporates a separate hot tub on one end and an aquatic fitness/swimming area on the other.

Dimension One Spas wanted to maintain a record of zero failures with their Aquatic Fitness Systems and felt that Bayer Plastics could offer them that peace of mind. 'Since we began using these materials, our manufacturing defect rate and overall failure rates have virtually disappeared, while customer satisfaction increased,' said McClure.

Dimension One Spas began shipping the Aquatic Fitness Systems in January and has many installed in the United States, Western Europe and Japan.
