BAYER CORPORATION NAMES RANDALL S. DEARTH TO HEAD NEW GLOBAL POWDER COATINGS BUSINESS GROUP

Bayer Corporation today announced that it has promoted Randy Dearth to Head of the recently formed Global Powder Coatings Business Group, within the corporation's Coatings and Colorants Division.

In his new responsibility, Dearth will manage global marketing, strategic planning and product management for the resins, crosslinkers and pigments sold into the worldwide powder coatings market.

Dearth joined Bayer Corporation in 1988 as a Development Chemist in its Automotive Coatings Development laboratories. In 1990, he was transferred to Bayer's Automotive Technical Center in Detroit where he spent two years doing market development work targeting the growth of polyurethane coatings for use as automotive clear coats, primers and sealants.

From 1993 to 1997, Dearth was on assignment at Bayer Corporation's parent company, Bayer AG, at the international headquarters in Leverkusen, Germany, where he was responsible for developing the European and Asian Markets for materials used in many diverse coatings and elastomeric applications.

Upon his return to the United States, Dearth was named Director of Marketing for the Division's aliphatic and aromatic monomer business and Adhesives Raw Material Group.

Dearth was born in Warren, Ohio, in 1963. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry from Hiram College and a master of science degree in polymer science and engineering from Case Western Reserve University. He is married and has two children.
