DUPONT MATERIAL SCIENCE FEATURES IN TELEFLEX FLUID SYSTEMS’ EXHIBIT AT ENGINE EXPO 2005
29 April 2005 - DuPont Engineering Polymers
| Teleflex Fluid Systems Europe (TFSE), a global manufacturer of PTFE hoses and accessories, will feature two products for the automotive industry benefiting from DuPont material science at Engine Expo 2005 in Stuttgart, Germany, 31 May to 2 June 2005. |
Fluorocomp® is a patented pre-formable composite hose with an anti-static DuPont™ Teflon® PTFE fluoropolymer resin barrier layer and a PTFE-impregnated braid for high temperature automotive environments, whilst the new TFLEX™ fuel vent tubing uses DuPont™ ETPV to provide a strong and flexible structure for easier assembly and cost savings. The TFSE stand is in Hall 6, stand number 6050. The Fluorocomp® is a fluoropolymer/ fibreglass braided composite product specifically designed to perform well in safety-critical, high temperature automotive environments. The PTFE-impregnated fibreglass and DuPont™ Kevlar® braid functions as an integral heat-shield, whilst the anti-static Teflon® barrier layer used for the inner-tube ensures total compatibility with fuels and oils up to 260şC. Its high bend radius permits simpler and shorter routing paths and easy attachment is enabled through its wide fitting compatibility. According to TFSE, the extremely low effusion and permeability rates of Fluorocomp® help protect the atmosphere. DuPont™ ETPV, a new kind of thermoplastic vulcanizate, provides the structure for the TFLEX™ fuel vent tubing from TFSE. The tubing is a three-layer construction also containing barrier and conductive layers for ultra-low permeation, and complies with stricter emission standards soon to be implemented in the US. Thanks to the elasticity of DuPont™ ETPV, the tube is easily and securely installed by pushing it onto barbed connectors, whilst the inherent efficiency of thermoplastic processing technology when using DuPont™ ETPV means that TFSE can supply TFLEX™ tubing at a competitive price. Material strength and flexibility are also contributing factors in the tubing’s resistance to kinking. TFSE, formerly Astraflex Limited, has been supplying Teflon® PTFE fluoropolymer media transfer solutions since 1979. A Teflon® brand partner, Engine Expo 2005 represents the company’s first representation at an international show. “Engine Expo is widely perceived as being among the world's leading international exhibitions for key specifiers and suppliers for engine design, component supply and production technology within the automotive, truck and bus engine manufacturing industry. We very much hope that our product and technical expertise, combined with the strength and performance of the DuPont™ Teflon® brand, will lead to many interesting and mutually productive discussions,” says Dave Redfearn, group sales director for TFSE.
