EASTMAN SPECIALTY PLASTICS TO EXHIBIT AT COMPAMED DÜSSELDORF
13 July 2004 - Eastman Chemical Company

At ComPaMED (Düsseldorf, November 24-26, 2004), Eastman Specialty Plastics will demonstrate how its product range brings added benefits to producers of medical devices and medical packaging.

Supplying plastics and chemicals for medical products since 1935, Eastman has based its reputation on high-quality materials, prompt, knowledgeable technical service, dependability, lot-to-lot consistency, technological advancement and innovation, and strict adherence to regulations around the world.

Eastman Specialty Plastics are found in numerous applications from over-the-counter drug containers to cough syrup bottles, pumps, syringes, masks, filters, and tubing to IV equipment. Eastman's flexible and rigid plastics are used in over-the-counter drug packaging, flexible bags for fluids like IVs and blood, medical device packaging, and bulk containers for pharmaceuticals.

Eastman Specialty Plastics protect medical equipment, solutions, and pharmaceuticals against breakage and contamination and offer physical properties, such as extreme heat and puncture resistance. Eastman also offers a spectrum of plastics to match biological/regulatory, sterilization, and disposal requirements. Eastman products may be subjected to gamma sterilization, without losing clarity.

Eastman Chemical also operates www.ClearlyMedical.com, a website that demonstrates how Eastman can deliver innovation to the project engineer, ranging from moulding complex shapes, to retaining clarity after sterilization and ultimately to environmentally-friendly disposal. In addition, the site shows a number of case studies.

According to Thijs Jaarsma, Eastman’s medical market development manager, “The site is another way in which we are working with the medical industry to effectively meet its current and future application requirements.”
