EXXONMOBIL CHEMICAL INTRODUCES NEW SELF-ADHESIVE LABEL FILM FOR IMPROVED PRINTABILITY
20 April 2005 - ExxonMobil Chemical Co

ExxonMobil today introduced Label-Lyte (TM)60LH537 coated white film facestock for self-adhesive labelling applications. The new film uses Rhiza proprietary coating technology to achieve performance improvement over other top-coated film face stocks, including Label-Lyte 60LH536.

ExxonMobil today introduced Label-Lyte (TM)60LH537 coated white film facestock for self-adhesive labelling applications. The new film uses Rhiza proprietary coating technology to achieve performance improvement over other top-coated film face stocks, including Label-Lyte 60LH536.

Applied on the front of the new Label-Lyte pressure sensitive adhesive film, Rhiza is designed for all ultraviolet printing technologies to solve the issue of mottling encountered with OPP film facestock. A new coating on the reverse side of the film is specially formulated to reduce the risk of blocking, while offering good performance with adhesives.

Mottling is caused by poor ink transfer from the print cylinder to the facestock due to factors such as press set up, or material selection. When printing on OPP films, UV Flexo inks are more prone to mottling than other inks. The Rhiza coating changes the surface properties of the film to ensure full ink transfer from the cylinder to the facestock.
