EXXONMOBIL CHEMICAL INTRODUCING NEW WAVE OF ACHIEVE METALLOCENE POLYPROPYLENES
19 January 2004 - ExxonMobil Chemical Co
| ExxonMobil Chemical Company is introducing a new wave of Achieve™ metallocene polypropylenes that will benefit many markets, beginning with nonwovens. These new products extend the reach of the Exxpol™ technology that in 1995 produced the first metallocene-catalyzed polypropylenes. |
"This expansion of our line of Achieve™ metallocene polypropylenes represents the next leap forward in metallocene technology in that we've developed an additional catalyst platform," said Richard H. Grabham, vice president, Global Polypropylene, ExxonMobil Chemical Company. "That is allowing us to create a new wave of products with exceptional properties to benefit our customers' applications." For example, new Achieve™ 6936G1 continues the pioneering tradition: It is the first metallocene polypropylene designed for meltblown applications. This breakthrough product offers spunmelt producers new opportunities to enhance fabric properties and improve overall productivity. It has the high melt flow rate and narrow molecular weight distribution needed to reach the next level of performance in meltblown processes. Testing on full-scale spunmelt equipment shows using new Achieve™ 6936G1 metallocene polypropylene can deliver improved flexibility in tailoring fabric properties and excellent processing performance compared with conventional polypropylene products. "We designed new Achieve™ 6936G1 metallocene polypropylene with multiple benefits for nonwovens producers to help them extend the use of these fabrics in a wide range of applications," said Robert Johnston, marketing and sales manager, Global Polypropylene, ExxonMobil Chemical Company. "Achieve 6936G1 can offer advantages in fabric features and manufacturing performance with its innovative design and ability to be tailored to meet spunmelt producers' needs."
