EXXONMOBIL CHEMICAL EXPANDS GLOBAL EXCEED MLLDPE PRODUCT LINE, ADDS NEW HIGHER DENSITY GRADES
16 December 2002 - ExxonMobil Chemical Co
| As the preeminent resin supplier to polyethylene film markets, ExxonMobil Chemical today announced the commercialization of two new Exceed metallocene-based linear low density polyethylene grades. These new grades have densities of 0.927 and melt indices from 1.3 to 3.5. Grade names for these products are Exceed 1327CA and Exceed 3527CB. Potential applications for these new grades include heavy duty shipping sacks, stretch film, hygiene film, liners and merchandise bags. These new grades offer an outstanding balance toughness for high performance films and stiffness for potential downgauging. |

Potential applications for these new grades include heavy duty shipping sacks, stretch film, hygiene film, liners and merchandise bags. These new grades offer an outstanding balance toughness for high performance films and stiffness for potential downgauging. "ExxonMobil continues to grow its Exceed grade slate which provides the same exceptional product performance globally. Our recently announced mVLDPE grades for flexible packaging applications along with these new higher density grades demonstrate our long-term, commitment to metallocene technology," said Ken Glover, global polyethylene marketing manager. "We're committed to providing the same outstanding products to meet our customer's global or regional market needs. The breadth in Exceed product offerings allows us to service all high performance film market segments with a single platform," he added. The increased densities of these new Exceed mLLDPE grades provide greater stiffness than lower density materials, without sacrificing the overall toughness end-users need. The improved stiffness-toughness balance allows for significant cost reductions without compromising performance. Manufacturers of heavy duty sacks and liners will appreciate the greater stiffness which provides better creep resistance and the ability to carry heavy loads. Stretch film manufacturers can use these higher density Exceed products as the non-cling layer to offer better puncture resistance and load retention than conventional materials. Additional applications include hygiene film, collation shrink film, towel and tissue overwrap, produce bags and agriculture film.
