METAL-PLATED FIBRE PRODUCTS ARE READY FOR USE

The Electro Fiber Technologies facility, located at Stratford Connecticut, has completed a year of product development and certification.

To date, products manufactured have primarily been carbon fibre tow plated with nickel, ranging from 10 to 70% metal by weight, as well as carbon/copper/nickel hybrid materials.

Now, a patented range of metal-plated carbon-fibre products is now commercially available for use in aerospace, defence, automotive, construction, medical and electronics applications.

Electro Fiber Technologies' capabilities include plating carbon with silver, gold, platinum and palladium. The company is developing capability to plate with other metals and to plate on fibre substrates other than carbon.

Bob Duvall, President of Electro Fiber Technologies, said: 'We are pleased to offer this state of the art product to the commercial market. We are now in position to support the growing demand for metal coated fibres and to enter into strategic supplier and technology relationships. Our process produces high quality, plated fibre that can be tailored for a full array of applications, whether in the form of non-woven veil/mat, woven fabric, continuous tow or chopped fibre'.
