ADVANTECH AIMS TO LEAD IN TECHNOLOGY
27 July 2004 - Advantech UK
| Advantech, demonstrates its commitment to be a leading technology provider by the new appointment of Jeff Chen as Chief Technology Officer. Jeff Chen will help Advantech develop new products using the latest technologies. This new assignment will ensure Advantech "leads from the front." |
Jeff Chen has worked at Advantech for over 12 years in technology research and development, and worked closely with leading industrial vendors like Intel and Microsoft to make sure Advantech products adopt the latest technology. Jeff's new mission is to: Identify and maintain awareness of technologies, which are pertinent to company product strategy and that potentially, will be developed by one of Advantech's product divisions. Jeff explained, "In the past, customers came to Advantech to help with their particular solution requirements. Advantech focused on providing platforms and technology customers requested. In my role as CTO I will proactively develop and further broaden Advantech's core "function block" technologies such as COM, and SoC, and identify new technologies such as PCI Express and AdvancedTCA, which will enable Advantech to lead the field in complete technology solutions and services for ePlatform." The new CTO aims to give customers better "total" solutions by streamlining all of Advantech's internal cross product division processes. By leveraging cross product division common engineering expertise, customized design & build services, and technology sharing, customers can take advantage of Advantech's wide knowledge pool and common "knowhow" from all ePlatform product divisions. A key strategy will be to advance, and further develop Advantech's intellectual property-based products, or "IP library." New technologies as well as existing and future technologies will allow customers to quickly build their solutions by choosing from an intellectual property-based library of building block technologies, thereby responding to the market quicker. Additionally, by tightly coupling R&D with Product Life Cycle Management, customers can access the information they are increasingly demanding. Jeff Chen will also play a proactive role in various technical committees to ensure Advantech will be an active and influential member of industry standard setting organizations, this will ensure that product divisions continue creating leading products which adopt the newest standards. "By harnessing all of our resources and promoting strategic collaboration between our product divisions and our technology partners, all of our customers will benefit," said Jeff.
