ADVANTECH AND AMD COOPERATE ON NEW GEODE GX2 PROCESSOR

Advantech Co. Ltd., announced a joint development agreement with Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. to deliver an x86-based customer development platform featuring the AMD Geode GX2processor and Advantech's System on Module development solution. The compact, versatile customer development platform will allow customers to create products and applications targeted at embedded markets. Due to the flexibility of the solution, Advantech can offer embedded market customers cost effective targeted solutions by simply redesigning the base development platform.

The Customer Development Platform is a flexible solution composed of Advantech's System on Module (SOM-144) featuring AMD's low power Geode GX2 CPU and Geode 5535 chipset. Customers have access to a complete development solution that includes the GX2 System On Module, development board, a preconfigured Windows CE, Linux or Windows XP OS and associated supporting driver set, LCD display, and a range of I/Os. The development platform is ready for project evaluation, application development and feasibility testing, speeding time-to-market response. Delivering flexible functionality in a super small space ( SOM-144 module, 68 x 100 mm), the System On Module GX2 processor platform includes:

·AMD Geode GX processor with Integrated 2D graphics accelerator and display controller;
·AMD Geode 5535 chipset which features the following:
·Integrated USB 1.1 controller;
·IDE controller/interface;
·AC97 interface;
·LPC and IR interface;
·128 MB DDRAM on board.
