NEW COIL COATING LINE MAINTAINS FOCUS ON CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
01 May 2006 - Alcoa

Alcoa announced that its Alcoa Architectural Products Merxheim business will expand its product offerings with the addition of a new coil coating line capable of coating thin aluminum coils up to two meters in width. AAPM is currently constructing the new $40 million coil coating production facility adjacent to its plant in Merxheim. The new coil coating line will enable AAPM to meet increasing demand from its customers for coil coated sheet and aluminum composite materials, while continuing to provide customer satisfaction with a range of colors, flexible quantities and short lead times. The new line is expected to be operational by early 2007.

Alcoa announced today that its Alcoa Architectural Products Merxheim business will expand its product offerings with the addition of a new coil coating line capable of coating thin aluminum coils up to two meters in width.

"Our ability to provide industry-leading service has been the main driver of our growth and continues to bring new customers to AAPM," says Claude Brichet, Managing Director Alcoa Architectural Products Merxheim. "The expanded capacity, coupled with the new two-meter width capability, will enable us to be even more responsive to our customers as well as provide them with new application opportunities."

The new coil coating line will support AAPM's core coil-coated product, Reynolux(R) with greater capacity and production efficiency. In addition, it will provide feedstock and greater supply flexibility for Reynobond(R) production. The Merxheim facility manufactures and sells two types of product: Reynolux(R), coil coated aluminium for building and industrial markets, and Reynobond(R), composite material for architectural, Corporate Identity Design, sign & display and industrial markets.

"We are excited about the growth that these investments will bring to the business," continued Mr. Brichet. "We are equally excited about what the investment will bring to Merxheim. AAPM has been an important economic engine in the Alsace for many years and these investments show our continued commitment to the region as well as our business."
