ADVANCED POLYMER ALLOYS INTRODUCES NEW THERMOPLASTIC RUBBER

Advanced Polymer Alloys, a division of Ferro Corporation and manufacturer of Alcryn Melt-Processible Rubber, today announced plans to introduce its newest material, DuraGrip, a thermoplastic rubber designed exclusively for overmolding to rigid olefinic substrates. By combining DuraGrip with rigid substrates like polypropylene and polyethylene, manufacturers can increase the value of their products by adding an ergonomic soft grip. DuraGrip can be easily colored and customized, offers an outstanding rubber feel, and is competitively priced, compared to similar materials. DuraGrip is available in durometers of 40, 50, and 60 with additional grades expected in the coming months.

APA, working together with Ferro's Filled and Reinforced Plastics Division, is marketing DuraGrip to manufacturers in the automotive, recreation, tool and appliance, and consumer electronics industry segments. Specific application examples include personal watercraft, washing machines, blenders, hair dryers, and more. It can also be used for developing soft-touch knobs and grips.

DuraGrip is APA's latest material product line to be introduced, building on the success of Alcryn Melt-Processible Rubber. Backed by Ferro, APA has expanded the success of Alcryn MPR in the automotive, appliance and tools, and residential and commercial architecture industries. Alcryn MPR is used in everything from windshield seals, irons, and power tools, to weather stripping, handheld computers, and stylized pens.
