Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today announced that it has extended the XOSM family of surface-mount oscillators with the release of three new low-voltage devices in miniature packages measuring 5.0 mm by 3.2 mm with a 1.3 mm height profile. Designed to provide space and energy savings in portable computing and telecommunications devices, the new Vishay Dale XOSM oscillators feature an industry-standard footprint size and low input voltage ratings of 1.8 V (XOSM-531), 2.5 V (XOSM-532), and 3.3 V (XOSM-533). These are the smallest such devices offered by Vishay Dale, and by enhancing the efficiency of clock oscillator circuits, the new low-voltage oscillators also enable the design of better-performing and longer-running end products such as notebook computers, cell phones, pagers, and PDAs. The efficiency of the XOSM-531, XOSM-532, and XOSM-533 is enhanced by a tri-state enable/disable function. With low-voltage operation, the devices released today also reduce heat dissipation for improved overall reliability. The three devices are rated for a frequency range of 1.544 MHz to 100.000 MHz, and all offer frequency stability options of ±25 ppm, ±50 ppm, and ±100 ppm. These lead (Pb)-free, HCMOS-compatible oscillators are available in tape-and-reel packaging and are compatible with IR re-flow processes.
