Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today announced the release of the new MP series of precision thin film resistor divider networks, the first such devices to offer 0.05% resistance ratio tolerance in the ultra-small SC 70 package. Intended for use in instrumentation amplifiers, precision voltage dividers, and bridge network circuitry, the surface-mount devices in the Vishay Thin Film MP series are optimized for industrial control systems, handheld instruments such as portable measuring devices for diagnostics, and other end systems requiring precision resistor pairs with exceptionally small dimensions. These off-the-shelf solutions provide precision tolerances down to 0.05% in the industry's smallest standard package, offering high performance while requiring little board space. As the first divider resistors to combine such small size with such low ratio tolerance, these products provide an alternative to larger-format devices packaged in the SOT 23 or SOT 143 case sizes. New MP devices are available as isolated matched-pair or center-tapped resistor divider networks in 3-lead (MP3) or 4-lead (MP4) standard molded SC 70 packages with maximum dimensions of 2.200 mm by 1.350 mm and a height profile of 1.100 mm. The new networks feature low temperature coefficient ratio tracking of ±2 ppm/°C, and their standard SC 70 package format provides common standard resistance values ranging from 1 kilohm to 10 kilohms per resistor, thereby simplifying component selection for designers. Custom designs are available for applications requiring non-standard ratios. Each network is specified for a TCR value of ±25 ppm/°C and a power rating of 0.075 W per resistor or 0.150 W for the package. A TAMELOX (passivated nichrome) resistive layer enhances stability. Long-term stability is rated for 500 ppm at 70 °C for 2,000 hours, and shelf-life stability specified at less than 100 ppm at 25 °C for one year. The devices' operating temperature range is -55 °C to +125 °C. Samples and production quantities of the new devices are available now, with a lead time of eight weeks for larger orders.
