Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today announced an RF Schottky diode and four RF PIN diodes in a new compact, surface-mount, 2-pin SOD523 package. The new devices feature low package inductance and capacitance values while occupying 60% less board space than the SOD323. With low forward resistance, high speed, and compact outlines, the new RF diodes from Vishay Semiconductors are optimized to offer exceptional dynamic performance and space savings in wireless applications, enabling designers to increase component integration on the PCB while improving end-product performance. The new BAT15V-02V low-barrier RF Schottky diode provides RF detection and mixing in wireless and mobile systems with working frequencies as high as 12 GHz. The new PIN diodes, BAR63V-02V, BAR64V-02V, BAR65V-02V, and BA892V-02V, offer exceptionally low forward resistance values down to 0.7 Ω at 100 MHz and 1 mA and are designed for a wide variety of controlling, switching, and attenuating applications. All five devices are offered in the space-saving, plastic SOD523 package, which measures just 0.8 mm by 1.2 mm and features a flat-lead design that increases moisture resistance by eliminating the mechanical handling that can cause cracks or gaps. The package's short lead length further enhances performance by reducing package inductances. The five RF diodes announced today set a high industry standard for cost-effective, high-volume, mainstream applications including RF front-ends and modules in cellular and cordless phones, pagers, GPS, wireless LANs, and Bluetooth systems, as well as satellite and TV tuner applications in receivers and set-top boxes. Samples of the new BAR63V-02V, BAR64V-02V, BAR65V-02V, and BA892V-02V PIN diodes will be available in the third quarter of 2002, with production quantities available in the fourth quarter of 2002. Samples of the BAT15V-02V RF Schottky diode will be available in the first quarter of 2003, with production quantities available in the second quarter of 2003. For all five devices, lead times for larger orders are four to eight weeks.
