Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. today announced a new thick film rectangular chip resistor designed with the industry's smallest footprint to enable downsizing in applications where board space is critical. Packaged in an industry standard 0201 case measuring just 0.024 in. (0.6 mm) by 0.012 in. (0.3 mm) and with a height profile of just 0.009 in. (0.23 mm), the new CRCW0201 chip resistor is well suited for compact end products including memory modules, cell phones, PCMCIA cards, hearing aids, sensors, frequency control devices, and notebook computers. The CRCW0201 features a power rating of 50 mW, a maximum working voltage of 30 V, and a standard TCR value of ±200 ppm/°C. The new resistor chip offers a broad resistance range from 10 Ω to 1 MΩ, including E24-range values, and a tolerance of ±5%. With flow-solderable terminations featuring a nickel barrier layer, the CRCW0201 is compatible with automatic placement equipment for easy integration into compact systems. The resistor chip incorporates a metal glaze on high-quality ceramic and a protective overglaze to improve resistance to demanding environmental conditions. It is rated for operation from -55°C to +125°C. The new resistor chip from Vishay meets specifications including CECC40000 / 40400 / EN 140 400 / IEC 60115, 1, EIA 575, and MIL-PRF-55342. Samples of the CRCW0201 thick film chip resistor are available now, with lead times of up to 10 weeks for production quantities.
