NEW VISHAY TELEFUNKEN SURFACE-MOUNT LIGHT UP DISPLAYS WITH HIGH-INTENSITY BLUE-GREEN RANGE
10 August 2001 - Vishay Electronic
| Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. is adding to its extensive offering of surface-mount LEDs with three new high-intensity devices in blue, blue-green, and true green for backlighting and indicator applications in automobiles, feature phones, fax machines, entertainment systems, office equipment, and products using backlit liquid crystal displays. The new Vishay Telefunken devices combine exceptional brightness levels with low power consumption. Luminous intensity is 40 mcd for blue (TLMB3140), 130 mcd for blue-green (TLMBG3100), and 180 mcd for true green (TLMTG3100), with all three devices specified for a 5-V reverse voltage at a 20-mA forward current. |
Built on Indium Gallium Nitride technology, the new LEDs feature a ±60° angle of half intensity. To ensure even lighting, the luminous intensity ratio in each packing unit is specified for 1.6 or less. Packaging for the new devices is the P-LCC-2, which measures just 2.8 mm by 2.4 mm with a thin 1.65-mm height profile - equivalent to a size B tantalum capacitor. A non-diffused lens simplifies backlighting applications and coupling to light pipes. Compliant with EIA and ICE standards, the device package is compatible with infrared, vapor phase, and wave soldering processes for high-speed, automatic assembly. The new devices complete Vishay's offering of "TLM" surface-mount LEDs, giving designers more than 40 device options in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and white color wavelengths. Provided in 8-mm tape and reel form, samples and production quantities of the Vishay Telefunken TLMB3140, TLMBG3100 and TLMTG3100 are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders.
