The industry's first surface-mount voltage divider family to combine ratio tracking as low as 0.1 ppm/°C with ratio match tolerances as low as ±0.005% was announced by Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. The new VSMD1505 voltage dividers, each of which combines two resistors in a single package, will serve in test and measurement, navigation and guidance, process control, telecom, robotics, and other low-noise analog applications requiring ultra-precision performance with minimal board space. The VSMD1505 series is housed in a 1505 package requiring a footprint measuring just 4.9 mm by 1.27 mm (0.193 x 0.050 inches). Built on Vishay's proprietary Bulk Metal Foil technology, six standard resistance value ratios from 1:1 (10 kΩ/10 kΩ) to 1:20 (500 Ω/10 kΩ) are available. An extraordinarily low absolute temperature coefficient of resistance (<5 ppm/°C) ensures that temperature changes will have no effect on the voltage point, even in high-ratio devices. Current noise generated by the VSMD1505 devices is also minimal, with typical levels of less than -40 dB. "The VSMD1505 series offers the ultimate in tracking, ratio stability, and low-noise performance in a surface-mount package that is easily mounted to pc boards using automated pick and place equipment," said Bill Brennan, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Vishay's High Precision Products Group. "For our customers this means less testing, lower assembly costs, and a more reliable end product." Samples and production quantities of the new VSMD1505 voltage dividers are available now, with lead times of stock to eight weeks.
