VISHAY INTRODUCES NEW PACKAGE OPTIONS FOR MILITARY-QUALIFIED THIN-FILM CHIP RESISTORS
26 June 2000 - Vishay Electronic

Vishay Intertechnology today announced that it is expanding the options for its military-qualified M55342 chip-resistor family with devices in four new case sizes. The new Vishay Thin Film M55342 devices are compliant to the QPL MIL-PRF-55342 specification with established reliability at the "R" failure rate level of 0.01% per 1000 hours or "C" non-ER level.

Rated for 150°C operating conditions, the M55342 resistors feature a wraparound termination design, with a tenacious adhesion layer covered with an electroplated nickel barrier layer. New case sizes include 0.230 x 0.075 in. (M55342/05), 0.209 x 0.098 in. (M55342/08), 0.259 x 0.124 in. (M55342/09), and 0.105 x 0.100 in.(M55342/10).

With a power ratings from 200 mW to 500 mW, the new M55342 package types provide 0.1% tolerances at resistance values from 100 ohms to as high as 3 megohms, and 1%, 2%, 5%, or 10% tolerances at a resistance values from 10 ohms to as high as 3 megohms. Wraparound resistance is less than 0.010 ohms typical.

The M55342 series is intended for the stringent performance requirements of a wide range of military applications requiring surface-mount chip resistors. Established reliability is assured through 100% screening and extensive environmental lot testing. In-lot tracking is less than 5 ppm/°C.

Samples and production quantities of the new M55342 resistors are available now, with lead times of 8 to 12 weeks for larger orders.
