INTRODUCING SPECTAR SHEET - STRONG CUSTOMER BENEFITS DRIVE STRATEGIC ALLIANCE

Barlo Plastics and Eastman Chemical Company have signed a strategic alliance and trademark license agreement covering the production as well as the marketing and sales activities for new Spectar sheet extruded from Eastman's specialty plastic. The new sheet material is available in Europe exclusively from Barlo Plastics. Spectar resin has been in the market for some time, but sheet sold under the Spectar trademark has not been available.

Under the terms of the agreement, Barlo Plastics, Europe's leading supplier of transparent sheet products, will hold the exclusive right to produce and market Spectar sheet products. Spectar sheet will be available through Barlo Plastics' extensive sales and distribution network, enabling customers throughout Europe to deal with local contacts.

This strategic alliance will bring higher innovation throughout the value chain. Based on proven technical competence of the two partners, developments are already underway to bring Spectar sheet to the market, aimed at specific applications in key market segments, such as point-of-purchase, store-fixtures, and signs. Other benefits include greater technical competence through a formal sharing of know-how and the ability to develop application specific grades for selected market segments.

On signing the agreement, Barlo Plastics Managing Director, André De Smet, said: "Spectar sheet complements the Barlo Plastics range of sheet materials, offering value through outstanding strength and optimum clarity.
