BIGHT NEW FUTURE IN DECORATIVE GLASS
22 November 2002 - 3M Europe

Decoration of glass has been made easy with 3M Accentrim adhesive tapes. Specially developed for glass manufacturers and companies specializing in glass decoration, these unique tapes give the appearance of traditional beveling and brilliant cutting with none of its limitations.

Conventional glass decoration methods are time-consuming, noisy and messy, with a high risk of breakage. Customers often experience long lead times and decorated products are heavy as the techniques can only be used on thick glass. Accentrim tapes are custom-cut from slit rolls and applied by hand or by semi-automatic machine. They can be applied in-situ on a range of glass types including pre-toughened and thin panes, and even on plastics.

The 3M M90 Precision Cutter cuts the tape to specific lengths and angles. Crosses, mitres and corners can be made with consistent accuracy and customers have a choice of authentic V-groove, Edge-Bevel or Half-Round effects. These can be used in combination with other decorative methods for even wider design freedom.

Accentrim tapes open up new opportunities for glass manufacturers and decorators. Across the home, office, hotel and restaurant sectors, they offer a simple, cost-effective means of achieving the sophisticated look of beveled glass in windows, doors and furniture. Furthermore, if applied correctly, they are backed by a 5-year guarantee against shrinkage, discoloration, delamination and common cleaning products.
