NEW EZI-FIX SYSTEM ATTACHES ELECTRICAL CABLE, CONDUIT AND PIPE WITHOUT DRILLING OR SCREWS

| Saddle components molded from DuPont Zytel PA66 nylon resin perform a key support function in the Ezi–Fix system for attaching electrical cable, conduit and pipe to wall or ceiling surfaces. Installation with the Ezi-Fix system requires no drilling or screws. Instead, adhesive-surfaced saddles are simply pressed against a pre-primed surface with the aid of a spring-loaded application tool. A full load can then be immediately applied, according to the system manufacturer. The saddle's design incorporates an integral slot for reusable cable ties. |
"Zytel nylon gives us the high strength and flat surfaces needed for the fastening system," says Ken Ranson, managing director of Ezi-Fix Fastening Systems of Caloundra, Queensland, Australia. "The DuPont material also allows us to turn out high-quality saddles on short molding cycles." Ezi-Fix also benefited from DuPont experience in optimizing its production process. A DuPont specialist assisted in evaluating tooling and molding parameters. The company made the transition from outside sourcing to in-house production in 2001. The saddles are molded from Zytel 101F, a high-flow unreinforced PA66 nylon resin. The resin carries a UL94B V2 flammability rating, a requirement of many building authorities around the world. The saddles come in two sizes. A 30 mm square cable saddle is rated by the manufacturers to support loads up to 5 kilogram (11 pounds). A 50 mm square saddle for cable or pipe is rated for 10 kilogram (22 pound) loads. The system has been tested by the British Standards Institute (report no. 285/4000208). Both sizes have integrally molded provision for reusable cable ties, also available from Ezi-Fix. After five years of proven commercial installations in Australia, the manufacturer is now expanding into global markets. Inquiries from prospective distributors in North America are invited.
