Ideal for internal circumferential submerged arc welding pipe seams, ESAB's A2 Tripletrac tractor unit benefits from an innovative steering system and synchronised slide that allows the operator to adjust the wheel and torch position simultaneously for accurate and effortless seam tracking. This concept eliminates the need to use cumbersome, time-consuming guide bars and results in increased productivity. The A2 Tripletrac is available with either the A2-A6 Process Controller or the analogue A2 Welding Controller. In either case, the user requires minimal training, yet the tractor consistently produces top-quality welds. Because the controller, heavy-duty wire feed unit, flux hopper and torch are all mounted directly on the tractor, the all-in-one unit is very quick to set up. Moreover, user-friendly controls give a choice of start methods, burn-back times and other settings, so the welding parameters can be readily optimised for every application. The A2 Tripletrac produces excellent results with steel, stainless steel or cored wires in diameters from 1.6 to 4.0 mm. Maximum wire feed speed is 9 m/min and the travel speed can be controlled between 0.1 and 1.7 m/min. Alongside the standard A2 Tripletrac machines, ESAB also offers a range of options and accessories. These include pilot lamps, utility lights, and a range of flux handling and recovery equipment. Complete systems can therefore be configured to match particular application requirements, or customers can purchase truly versatile systems that easily handle a wide variety of submerged arc welding tasks.
