ESAB LAUNCHES LIGHTWEIGHT YET HEAVY-DUTY PLASMA CUTTING MACHINE
17 May 2006 - ESAB Group

Capable of cutting any thickness from thin sheet up to 19mm (for mild steel), the 25kg POWERCUT 650 Plasmarc is suitable for the most commonly encountered applications where a portable plasma cutting machine is required. The machine features a particularly tough casing, so it will withstand the rigours of being moved from one job to the next. This rugged construction, together with the machine's ability to cut mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium in a wide range of thicknesses, makes it suitable for use in the construction industry, in production environments, or within hire fleets.

ESAB has introduced its latest plasma cutting machine, the versatile, portable, lightweight yet heavy-duty POWERCUT 650 Plasmarc.

The power source and PT-31XLPC torch have been designed to enable high production rates to be achieved at a low cost, for example, the extended shape of the patented nozzles gives good visibility and an extended life for the wear parts. To reduce operator fatigue with longer cuts, the torch features a trigger lock, and template following is easy thanks to the drag facility that allows the torch to be held in contact with the workpiece.

Each POWERCUT 650 Plasmarc is supplied ready to use out of the box. The operator simply has to connect the air supply and mains cable, and the machine can be used immediately. Even the torch is supplied pre-assembled and attached.

With versions capable of operating from a 230V and 400V power supply, the power source is rated at 40A at a 40 per cent duty cycle and is equipped with a torch with 7.6m of cable.

ESAB is also offering a range of complementary accessories, such as a wheel kit to enhance portability, a torch wrap to enable the torch and cable to be safely and tidily stowed out of the way on the side of the machine, plus a selection of additional guides and accessories.
