Designed to suit medium or heavy-duty applications, ESAB's new ESABMig step-controlled welding machines can be used for MIG or MAG welding. While some machines are supplied as an integrated power source and controller, the compact models also incorporate a wire feeder. Strongly constructed with galvanised housings, the ESABMig machines can easily cope with harsh environments. The combination of 40 voltage steps and sophisticated control software ensure that the welding performance is excellent for a broad range of materials and thicknesses. Moreover, a wide range of options enables customers to specify the machines they need to meet their exact requirements. For instance, multi-voltage versions are available and the units can be equipped with a water-cooling system, digital voltage/current meter, air filter and a transformer for a CO2 heater. As an example of the type of machine that can be specified, the ESABMig C420sw has a broad welding voltage range and is capable of delivering 400 A at a 60% duty cycle. It features potentiometers for setting the wire feed rate and burn-back time, and the ESAB LogicPump that automatically controls the pump for the welding torch water-cooling system. As well as having full manual control over the welding parameters, the user can also use the quasi-synergic line function in which the material, gas and wire diameter have to be entered. ESAB has developed the ESABMig machines to be robust and reliable, as well as simple to operate and capable of producing high-quality welds with both MIG and MAG welding.
