ESAB has introduced a new machine for gas metal arc welding, designated the A2 Multitrac GMAW. Utilising this unit can improve the productivity and quality for fabricators working in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium. The same unit can be used with either solid or flux-cored wires, the latter giving the ultimate in productivity and economy. Based around a compact yet extremely rugged four-wheel-drive carriage, the Multitrac features tachometer feedback, from the wire feed unit, to enable consistently high quality results to be achieved. An integral A2-A6 process controller provides precision digital control, yet is easy to program via the built-in keypad and display. Up to ten sets of welding parameters can be stored in the unit's memory, and the parameters can be altered while the machine is running. Manual adjustment of the torch means that the best possible position can be set for each weld run. Two versions of the A2 Multitrac GMAW are available, both of which are designed for use with ESAB's LAF welding power source. The first variant incorporates the well-proven and highly reliable A2 GMAW torch, while the second unit benefits from the MTW 600 torch that uses a highly effective cooling system to provide exceptionally long torch life. To help customers make the best use of the Multitrac, ESAB also offers an extensive range of accessories. These include guide wheel bogies for welding V-joints or inside pipes, and alternative bogies and guides for welding I-section joints when there is no convenient guiding edge on the workpiece. Other accessories include pilot lamps with light bulbs or laser diodes. ESAB has published a data sheet that explains the A2 Multitrac GMAW's features and provides the full detailed technical specification.
