ESAB MAKES CASE FOR A-BASKET
17 January 2002 - ESAB Group

ESAB, one of the world's leading welding equipment suppliers, has recently launched the Adaptorless Basket for its OK Autrod 12.51. This new development is in line with ESAB's environmental policy as it cuts down on waste as well as having 18kg of wire on a basket for 1.0 and 1.2mm wire to minimise downtime.

The robust Adaptorless Basket has already proved to be very successful on ESAB Stainless and Aluminium MIG wires so it was a natural progression to extend this to Non Alloy MIG/MAG Wire.

In addition to the quick changeover and larger load the new basket design has a more rigid sidewall which assists wire feed, again cutting possible downtime. The Adaptorless Basket is a better solution all round; for convenience, environmental reasons and increased throughput.

ESAB's OK Autrod 12.51 is a copper coated double deoxidised manganese silicon alloyed wire for GMAW using Ar/20CO2 mixtures or CO2 as the gas shield. Typical applications include butt and fillet welding of mild and carbon manganese steels used in the fabrication of boilers, containers, car bodies, ships, rail rolling stock and structural steelwork.

OK Autrod 12.51 welding wire comes in 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2mm diameters with good arc stability due to uniform copper coating and is suitable for robotic welding. The wire is layer wound on the new Adaptorless Basket and has uniform feed properties.
