NEW CUTTING MACHINE CONTROL SUITS ALL DISCIPLINES
24 April 2001 - ESAB Group
| ESAB Automation, in a development designed to meet the move towards unmarked cutting operations, has developed a range of controller and software programming systems that provide fully integrated cutting process solutions. The controllers can select automatically the optimum cutting conditions for any specification or thickness of material. |
The operator simply enters the material details on the controller and from its database, it will select optimum speeds, gases, heights, pressures and other key parameters. The latest development is the NCE Vision PC Control, a Windows based cutting machine controller developed for use with all cutting technologies. Designed for easy operation, this new CNC controller incorporates many new software features such as menu-driven operation, realtime tool path display and kerf-override. Together they provide the sheet metal cutting market with a tool designed to increase productivity in a highly competitive market. Hardware components include an LCD-Colour-Display with 600x480 Pixel resolution; LS 120 Super Disk Drive with a capacity of 120 megabytes; hard disk with 4.3 gigabyte capacity and industrial-standard PC components. Software functions include parallel manual data input to edit/modify NC-programs also during cutting, and an 8-position-joystick and cursor control with a multi-function wheel for highly accurate machine movement in one increment steps. Tool station pre-selection can be either menu display or programmed. The menu displays alternative cutting parameters depending on the cutting process. For oxy-fuel cutting machines, the central gas pressure control, preheating times, hole piercing cycle, cutting speed, kerf width and nozzle distance to the workpiece are highlighted. For plasma cutting machines the cutting cycle, cutting speed, kerf width, arc voltage, cutting current and nozzle distance to workpeice are featured. For waterjet cutting machines the cutting speed, dynamic and static piercing times and parameter for corner behaviour are featured. A control panel with keyboard for integrated machine operation of up to 12 tool stations is provided together with graphical presentation of fixed part programs. Sixty-five fixed programs with fixed lead-in-and synchronised graphic presentation of the parameter by the cursor as well as fixed program technology with easy data input of all parameters are standard. A range of additional software options is also available.

About: ESAB Group
As a logical step following his invention of the covered welding electrode back in 1904, Oscar Kjellberg founded ESAB. Since then, the company has constantly improved on existing methods and materials. At the same time, ESAB has developed new methods to meet the challenge presented by technological progress. Today the company produces consumables and equipment for virtually every welding and cutting process and application. 100 years of continuous research, development and manufacture have made ESAB the world leader in welding, cutting and also an international supplier of products, know-how and services that none can match. ESAB's subsidiaries and distributors worldwide are ready to handle your requirements - large and small alike. |
