INDEPENDENT EXTERNAL STUDIES REVEAL THE TRUTH BEHIND VISUALLY SIMILAR BRAZING PRODUCTS
16 May 2006 - Eutectic UK

TeroCote 7888T is a market-leading high-performance anti-wear product in the form of a flexible cord providing highly effective protection against erosion and abrasion while the matrix composition helps to absorb impact and improves resistance to corrosion.

Ideal for high wear applications in mining, oil exploration, cement production agriculture, mineral processing and Iron and Steel fabrication, TeroCote 7888T has a long history in saving customers significant sums of money through extended plant performance and reduced downtime.

During recent years more and more imitators have started to manufacture products that appear to be similar to original Eutectic products with many of these imitation products looking and even feeling like the Eutectic products. They often claim to perform as well as or even better than the Eutectic TeroCote 7888 T but in reality fail to live up to expectations and are more expensive.

A well known university recently carried out independent bench-marking of our original products against a total of 12 lower cost imitator products. The tests used were the ASTM G-65 wear test and industry standard hardness testing. The most commonly used wear tests is the ASTM G-65 Dry Sand Rubber Wheel Test. This test measures weight or volume loss in a very controlled environment. The G-65 test is used by most companies, industries, and universities, when bench-marking wear protective coatings.

Also, to provide comprehensive information on the hardness of TeroCote brazed coatings and have very high accuracy of hardness measurements of very hard and complex structure of the TeroCote brazed coatings, HV30 macro and HV0.04 micro hardness tests were chosen with two hardness measurements taken across several areas of each coating.

The test results showed that in both hardness and wear protection, Eutectic TeroCote 7888T outperformed leading competitors by 52%.

"The results of these tests endorse our market-leading status and show conclusively that imitation products do not perform as well as the original TeroCote 7888T even though it has been on the market for more than three decades?, comments UK Brazing Product Manager, Mike German adding ?it is clearly the most cost-effective product of its type in the industry."
