17 September 2003 - Fluent
| Fluent Inc. announced today the general availability of its flagship Computational Fluid Dynamics software, FLUENT V6.1.22, for the Intel Itanium 2 processor family running under the Linux operating system. The new release supports full FLUENT functionality, including 64-bit parallel processing, on the Itanium 2 processors and complements Fluent's earlier announcement of full support for Itanium 2 microarchitecture under the HP-UX operating environment from the Hewlett-Packard Company. |
Fluent Inc. announced today the general availability of its flagship Computational Fluid Dynamics software, FLUENT V6.1.22, for the Intel Itanium 2 processor family running under the Linux operating system. The new release supports full FLUENT functionality, including 64-bit parallel processing, on the Itanium 2 processors and complements Fluent's earlier announcement of full support for Itanium 2 microarchitecture under the HP-UX operating environment from the Hewlett-Packard Company. "Computational fluid dynamics places extreme demands on computing power, and Fluent customers will benefit from both 64-bit memory availability and high processor speed on Itanium 2 processor based platforms" notes Paul Bemis, VP of Product Strategy at Fluent. "FLUENT's performance on Itanium 2 microarchitecture is excellent, and the combined solution provides our customers with very good value." Fluent has worked together with Intel Corporation, HP, SGI, and NEC to develop, deliver, and benchmark performance on Itanium 2 processor based platforms. Certified Hewlett-Packard systems include the rx2600 server and zx6000 workstations, and FLUENT is supported on the full line of new HP Integrity Linux clusters running Red Hat Advanced Server 2.1. The new release has also been certified on the SGI Altix 3000 family of servers. FLUENT benchmarks on Itanium 2 processor based systems are posted at http://www.fluent.com/software/fluent/fl5bench/index.htm. "Fluent and Intel have worked closely together to ensure outstanding performance for Fluent customers on Itanium 2 processor based platforms," notes Melissa Laird, General Manager of Intel's Solutions Enabling Division. "The recent benchmarks provided by FLUENT demonstrate that FLUENT's performance is very competitive on Itanium 2 microarchitecture. In addition, the very good parallel scaling represents a powerful solution that can be deployed to address customer's large-scale CFD computing requirements. We are pleased that Fluent's membership in our Early Access Program continues to deliver results."
