Fluent Incorporated, world leader in computational fluid dynamics software, announces that Formula One World Drivers' and World Constructors' Champions, Ferrari, has designated them as a Supplier. Under the agreement, Fluent supplies the Ferrari Racing Department with software and services for CFD analysis of racing vehicle aerodynamics.

CFD is computer-aided engineering software that enables an engineer to simulate fluid flow, heat transfer, and chemical reactions. CFD is used in the automotive and motor sports fields as a "virtual windtunnel" to simulate and improve external aerodynamics, and also to optimize engine performance, air handling and driver comfort, and the performance of a variety of automotive components, such as tires, windshields, fuel cells, and brakes. Fluent Incorporated is one of the firms that pioneered this technology 15 years ago, and is the world's largest provider of CFD software. Its software is used by motorsports teams and automotive manufacturers worldwide.

Formula One motor racing is the most-watched spectator sport in the world, and Ferrari's recent wins confirm the team's competitive stature. "Ferrari chose Fluent's CFD software because of its strong track record in motor racing applications," says Ross Brawn, Technical Director at the Ferrari Racing Department. "We find its ease-of-use, accuracy and robustness essential for the fast turnaround times we require within the demanding environment that is Formula One racing. Our use of Fluent for the past several years has made an important contribution to the team's success."

Bharatan Patel, Fluent CEO, adds that "We are proud to be associated with Ferrari, a name recognized the world over for advanced engineering, style, and quality. Fluent intends to work closely with Ferrari to ensure their continued success and to maintain Fluent technology at the leading edge."
